Report

Ascot united survived an early set back and a late scare to win 3-2 on the road at St Panteleimon on Saturday, extending their winning sequence to six games.

Ascot created a couple of chances early-on courtesy of Sean McCormack and Harry Laflin but were punished for poor defending in the 12 minute as the hosts took the lead.

However, that lead was short lived as Laflin kept up his scoring record when he scored a penalty, before Duarte Surpanu made it two goals in two games with a calm finish on the half hour mark to make it 2-1.

Ascot dominated the rest of the half, but what unable to add to their tally before the break.

In the second half, substitute Tom Scott slotted home from Laflin’s cross in the 69th minute although the daylight would be stifled – as in last week’s game at Spelthorne Sports – when the home side cut the deficit five minutes later to set up a nervy finale.

Ascot man of the match Taylor Morgan might have made the game safe when he hit the side netting, but it was academic as the visitors recorded their sixth win on the trot to consolidate 5th place in the league.

Ascot United: Gray, Lock, Everiss, Merrick, Bailey, Ellis, McCormack (August), Denton, Morgan, Laflin, Surpanu (Scott).
