SUNDAY NEWS: LADIES CAP GOOD WEEKEND FOR ALL TEAMS
Sunday’s fixtures included a win and a draw for the two senior Ascot United Ladies teams, whilst there is news of a big FA Youth cup tie for the Allied U18 side.

In the first team fixture at the Racecourse, Darrel Evans’ side left it late to earn a 1-1 draw with Barton Rovers. The Yellawomen had trailed to an early goal, but Lauren Broadhurst popped up in the second minute of added time to level proceedings with what could be a crucial strike given both sides’ respective league placings. The result ensured Ascot ended the day in 7th, two places and two points behind Barton in fifth.

Down the Forest Road, the Development side bounced back from last weekend’s home defeat against Woking with a 4-1 victory at Binfield in the Thames Valley League Division 2 (East), a result which lifts them back into 3rd place.

On Saturday, there was yet another impressive win for the Ascot United Men’s Development side – 2-0 away at Abbey Rangers – in the Suburban league Central Division. That is now 4 four wins and two draws for Tommy Wilkinson’s unbeaten table toppers.

So, it was all in all a good weekend for the senior section, and the Mens’ teams both head into yet another week at the top of their leagues. Long may it continue!

Finally, make a date for the week after next. Ascot United’s youth side will play Wingate and Finchley on either the 16th or 18th of October at the Racecourse (date to be finalized over the next day or so) in what is the final qualifying round of the FA Youth cup. Max Squires’ side have already won three qualifiers to get this far, and are now just 90 minutes away from a possible glamour tie in the first round proper. Last week, a crowd of over 100 watched them beat Hungerford in the previous qualifying round, and this one promises to bring even more through the turnstiles as the young Yellamen go for glory. More on that in due course!

Oh, and can I just mention THAT goal yesterday for Luqman Kassim for Ascot United at Windsor again? Simply stunning. Match report here.
