ASCOT AWARDS NIGHT: 'ONE CLUB' BUT MANY WINNERS
Club stalwarts and new talent were all recognised at Ascot United’s annual awards and presentation evening on Saturday. Director of Football Neil Richards oversaw the evening, where all five of the senior teams were present.

The Allied U18 side saw Ben Fuller, Lewis Wilson and Louis Maggs scoop the golden boot, Managers POY and Players POY awards respectively, before the Mens Development side’s Aaron Ross, Fuller, and Ryan Cooper won the same awards.

For the Ladies, the Development side’s Lou Pullen was toe scorer, Cara O’Brien won Manager’s POY and Hannah Swallow was the players’ pick. There was an additional award for Courtney Gibbons from the supporters. Hannah Evans, Darcey Young and ‘keeper Lisa Phillips would then pick up the golden boot, manager’s and players’ awards for the first team.

Mens First Team Manager Jamie Tompkins then announced Nathan Minhas as the club’s golden boot winner, although the top scorer award for existing players is contingent on Monday’s cup final. The first team were clearly ‘hungry’ for their awards and there was no ‘lucky horseshoe’ needed as George Lock picked up the supporters POY award and Jonny Denton was named Players POY.

However, perhaps the most poignant and prestigious award went to club physio Lexi Sawdon, who has worked tirelessly under the radar in difficult circumstances and with a stunning London Marathon effort in parallel. Lexi was the undisputed ‘Ben Reddy’ award winner; truly well deserved.

So, it’s cup final day on Monday. Did I hear someone say there might be a drum or two heading to Ardley? Or 3. Or 4….?
