***Late Tuesday update - Ascot United will travel to Brackley Town Saints in the floodlit cup quarter final on Tuesday 27th March after they came from behind to win 2-1 at Wantage in their round of 16 tie on Tuesday***
So, before we head into the comparatively mundane world of fixture changes, let’s celebrate another glut of impending cup finals that some of our junior sides have reached.
We’re now in danger of losing track after our U12, U14 and U15 Boys’ teams all reached county cup finals in the last couple of weeks, but here goes…
In the East Berks Cups, the U10 Aces and U9 Raiders both won their semi-finals and will contest their finals at The Racecourse on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May.
Also, many congratulations to Ascot United Girls’ U13s Emeralds who made it through to the League Cup Final after a crushing 10-0 semi final win, inspired by girl of the match Ella Steer who netted four goals.
In fixture news, Ascot United’s final league match of the season at Flackwell Heath has been pushed back from Saturday 30th May to Tuesday 2nd April (7.45pm), although this date remains contingent on progress in the Floodlit Cup (below).
Ascot United’s Perpetua Press floodlit cup quarter final tie will be away on Tuesday 27th March at either Wantage Town or Brackley Town Saints, who contest their round of 16 tie this [Tuesday] evening. Look out for that result later…
Should Ascot win that tie, they will then entertain Binfield in the semi-finals on Tuesday 2nd April (displacing the Flackwell game above), with a potential final on Tuesday 9th April against the winners of the other semi-final which we already know is between Ardley United and Flackwell Heath.
Ascot United will play their penultimate league match of the season at Royal Wootton Bassett this Saturday although if you are missing out on your football then take a peek at the Development Side’s fixtures as they pursue the Suburban League crown.
